Johanne Gutenberg was born sometime in 1398. He was born in Mainz, Germany. His religion was Catholic. At an early age he was an engraver and inventor. Johannes was married to Else Wirick zum Gutenberg. He had no children. Gutenberg invented the first printing press in the Renaissance Era. The printing press used movable metal type. It printed books faster than hand writing. He died at about the age of 70; February 3, 1468.
